The coronavirus is sweeping the world by storm. The effects of the virus are horrific – causing many people to die. But, as with all things in this world, there are some positive side effects related to the coronavirus such as an increase in hygiene levels and goodwill.
In an effort to avoid the coronavirus many people have become more hygienic. Personally, I am so happy that more and more people have become hygienic and I hope these new habits lasts for the rest of our lives. Hygienic habits such as:
- Washing hands with soap and water for a count of 20 seconds or more;
- Closing the lid of the toilet before flushing;
- Keeping hands away from the face;
- Covering the mouth when sneezing or coughing; and
- Cleaning electronic equipment more often;
not only helps in avoiding the virus – or not spreading the virus – but also in
avoiding other diseases such as influenza.
Another positive side effect, which I have personally experienced, was how healthy people avoided the virus because they do not want to be carriers of it. If I had the virus I would most likely survive because of my strong immune system. But I still took every precaution to avoid catching the virus. The reason for this – goodwill.
I did not want a sickly person to get the virus because I was a carrier. I would have been sick in my stomach if I carried the virus to someone who had a high likelihood of dying from it. Many people feel the same way. As with hygiene, I hope this way of thinking continues into the future.
Since the coronavirus has surfaced people around the globe have died, countries or cities are under lockdown, and it has negatively affected businesses and production. When you feel hopeless in the wake of this pandemic remember the positive outcomes that have transpired from it. We are all in this together. We will get through this.
Be safe everyone! Wishing you lots of happiness.
