Getting a reward or celebrating an accomplishment gives us an extra boost of happiness and encouragement. When something is accomplished a reward or party is almost always planned. Just because you might be alone, or don’t want to make a big deal out of it with friends and family, you can still reward yourself.
Now first, what not to do:
Do NOT reward yourself only with food (unless it’s healthy)
When we accomplish something we tend to reward ourselves with food. We even reward our pets with treats when training them. This is not always a good thing because of genetically modified foods and addictive junk food.
At the vary least, team up the food reward with something else like going to the park and having a picnic, or watching a movie and eating popcorn.
Take a look at some ideas you can do solo below:
1. Go for a nature walk
It could be a park or beach where you are surrounded by nature. The sky is above you and the ground is beneath your feet. I feel so calm when I do this. Taking a walk outside is both physically and mentally beneficial.
2. Watch Netflix
Watching Netflix is great if you want to stay indoors. Team it up with a cup of hot chocolate and get comfy under a blanket. Careful you don’t binge though.
3. Run around the block and wave madly at your neighbours
Waving at people madly will make you feel incredibly happy. I sometimes end up with a fit of giggles. Who knows, maybe you might brighten someone’s day.
Act like a tourist in your own city. I’m sure there were places you might have wanted to see or activities you may have wanted to do. For example, if you are interested in history why not got to the museum?
5. Give to charity
I feel so good giving things to people. There is something about giving rather than just taking that takes you to another level of satisfaction.
6. Play a well-deserved video game
If you are the kind of person who loves playing video games, this is for you. Go ahead and play a well deserved game. Don’t feel guilty.

7.Buy yourself a present
For me I love to buy myself a clothing item. Every time I see this item I will associate it to my reward. This ends up being a great motivator for some.
8 . Do something for your pet, family, or friends – your supporters
It’s great to really appreciate those that support you. I could not have done a lot of things without help and support from people. If you are shy about doing this, try and do something anonymously for that special person.
